On March 7, , CMS announced plans to consolidate the competitive bidding areas (CBAs) included in Round 1 and Round 2 Recompete of the Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program by conducting Round in the same geographic areas. Round will take place in CBAs across the country and will have a . Medicare program. By my signature, I certify that the information contained herein is true, correct, and complete to the best of my knowledge, and I authorize the Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor (CBIC) to verify this information. I also certify that I will adhere to the terms of the competitive bidding contract if awarded a contract.   DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program The DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program was mandated by Congress through the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of (MMA). The statute requires that Medicare replace the current fee schedule payment methodology for selected Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplies (DMEPOS) items with a competitive bid process.

Section (a) of Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of (MACRA) required a bid surety bond for suppliers bidding in the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program. Bidders must obtain a $50, bid surety bond from an authorized surety on the Listing of Certified Companies on the Department of the Treasury’s website for each CBA for which they submit a bid. The Medicare Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) Competitive Bidding Program (the Program) allows DMEPOS suppliers to compete to become contract suppliers. DMEPOS suppliers submit bids to provide certain items of DMEPOS to people with Medicare living in, or visiting, competitive bidding areas (CBAs). The Competitive Bidding Program, which has been phased in over several years, utilizes bids. 2 submitted by qualified suppliers to establish applicable payment amounts under Medicare Part B for certain DMEPOS items for beneficiaries receiving services in designatedcompetitive bidding areas (CBAs 3).
